Sterile Processing Technician
Essential Functions
- Preparing medical equipment and instruments for decontamination
- Operating equipment to clean, disinfect and decontaminate surgical instruments, medical devices and equipment
- Inspecting instruments and equipment for signs of damage and wear and tear
- Unpacking, checking and stocking new equipment, instruments and devices
- Delivering equipment and supplies to all areas of the facility
- Responding to emergency supply requests during surgical procedures
- Maintaining accurate records of when items undergo sterilization
- Monitoring temperature and humidity conditions within storage areas
- Preparing operating rooms for surgeries

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in sterilization and knowledge of veterinary surgical instruments/procedures
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience
- Knowledge of clerical procedures such as alphabetizing files and records
- Ability to multitask and pay close attention to details
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays
- Depending on functional area of assignment, tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or extended periods of time standing and/or walking
- May involve some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds)
